Created in 1987 as part of the Ratchaprapha Dam project to generate hydroelectric power, the lake now spans over 165 square kilometers. Its emerald waters stretch across a jungle-filled landscape, with towering limestone karsts rising dramatically from the surface, creating a surreal and tranquil atmosphere.
What once began as an energy project has evolved into a thriving eco-tourism hotspot. Floating raft houses and boutique jungle resorts now offer visitors a chance to fully immerse themselves in the untouched wilderness. Whether you're gliding through the lake on a longtail boat, kayaking in quiet coves, hiking to hidden waterfalls, or spotting wildlife like hornbills, gibbons, or even wild elephants—every moment spent in this enchanting park feels like stepping into another world.

Las Orquideas Resort & Cheow Lan Lake
In June of 2024 Las Orquideas Resorts entered into negotiations with the Nong Prae raft-house to take over the booking of 4 bungalows. This government owned and operated floating palace was once was visited by Thai Royalty and famous stars. The elements over the years caused severe damage to the raft-house and then came Covid and the damage multiplied. Our deal brought the Las Orquideas standards to Cheow Lan Lake and Nong Prae. We started a renovation project and in doing so we rebuilt the reputation of Nong Prae. Since the completion of the renovations more than 500 guests have stayed in our bungalows and all our guests had nothing to say except praise us on the accommodations, the views and of course the food served by the the raft-house floating restaurant. Add to that carefully designed boat tours and activities, fun for both adults and children, ends with a winning combination and a great activity for all.
Important Notes Before Booking:
This tour departs from Khao Sok Las Orquideas Resort in Khao Sok @ 09:00 AM of the day you booked it. Guests must check in at 08:30 AM that morning. If you cannot get to our resort at that time please email us immediately or use WhatsApp and contact us using this number +66 61 058 2111. We will try to provide you with an alternate solution.

Itinerary Day 1:

09:45 Stop at local Market - you may wish to buy some snacks or simply browse through the local market.

10:00 Arrive at the Cheow Lan Lake Pier, go through the formalities of paying the National Park entrance fee and the Lake pier fee. Then board your longtail boat to begin the Cheow Lan Lake Experience tour.

11:00 You will arrive at your floating Raft-House, and proceed to check into your deluxe bamboo bungalow(s), and perhaps enjoy swimming or kayaking.

12:30 It's lunch time. Enjoy a Thai Set lunch. We are sure you will enjoy it. Then hang around the raft-house do a little swimming in the crystal clear water of the lake.

14:30 A short boat trip to a hiking trail to explore the jungle while trekking to the Diamond Cave and enjoy exploring it.

15:30 Return to the raft-house to get in some rest and relaxation, perhaps another swim.

16:00 Your next journey on the longtail boat is an evening water safari and hopefully you will catch a glimpse of the wildlife in the area.

17:30 You will return to the raft-house. Enjoy some free time before dinner

19:00 Dinner is served. Take your time, you are off the clock. Get to bed early. Day 2 starts early.
Itinerary Day 2:

06:30 Board the longtail boat for a morning mist safari on the lake

08:00 Return to the raft-house for some breakfast, get in a last minute swim if you want

09:00 It's time to check-out

10:00 Board your longtail boat for the cruise back to Khao Sam Kler, also known as the Guilin of Thailand. It's really stunning so take lots of pictures. Your boat ride continues finding its way back to where it all started.

11:00 You will arrive at the pier and get on your mini bus that will take you to your next destination, lunch at a viewpoint on the dam.

12:30 Begin the drive back to Khao Sok

13:00 Arrive back to where it all started our resort - Khao Sok Las Orquideas

One night stay in a Deluxe Bamboo Bungalow with Private Bathroom, cooled by two 16" Fans, at a floating raft-house on Cheow Lan Lake

KAYAKING PADDLES
A 1,000 THB deposit is required if you want to take out a kayak. It is fully refundable if you return the paddle.
